Plans have been submitted for a new medical centre on a long-empty site in Strood.

It would be built on land formerly occupied by Toni Moss dance academy in Gun Lane, which was demolished around 2020.

The part five, part six-storey building will include six GP rooms, three consultation rooms and a pharmacy.

Designs drawn up by Black Bear Projects include the use of yellow stock bricks and grey aluminium cladding.

The healthcare facility will also provide four car parking spaces and it would create up to 24 jobs.

In a report submitted to Medway Council, applicant Peter Chopra said the project would provide “accessible and inclusive healthcare for the community”.

The report said: “We are committed to delivering comprehensive medical services tailored to the needs of individuals and families, ensuring everyone has access to high-quality care in a supportive and welcoming environment.

“This facility will prioritise patient-centred care by focusing on prevention, treatment, and education to promote long-term well-being.”

The same site was subject to a planning application for a block of 13 flats and two ground floor commercial units, which was approved in November 2023 but never materialised.

A decision on the latest plans is due by 15 May 2026.
