Home Bargains to open at Hempstead Valley, Gillingham
Home Bargains is the latest tenant set to join Hempstead Valley in Gillingham.
The discount retailer is moving into the former BHS unit, opposite TKMaxx.
A planning application has been submitted seeking permission to refurbish the external appearance of the unit and the shopping centre’s southern entrance.
The 12,600 sq ft unit at the shopping centre has sat empty since BHS shut in August 2016, following the department store’s collapse into administration.
Fashion retailer M&Co then took on the unit in October 2017 for a short spell before it closed in March 2020.
An opening date for the new shop is not yet known.
It will be Home Bargain’s second branch in Medway, after the opening of its Horsted Retail Park store in 2020.
The household variety chain joins McDonald’s and German Doner Kebab, who are also opening soon at the shopping centre.
Hempstead Valley and Home Bargains have been approached for comment.
