Restaurant chain German Doner Kebab is opening its first branch in Medway.

It is set to move into the former Santander bank at Hempstead Valley, Gillingham.

A planning application has been submitted by the firm to change the use of the bank and install new signage.

The restaurant will offer dine-in, takeaway and click-and-collect options.

Its proposed opening hours are 10am to 11pm Monday to Sunday, however an opening date has not been revealed yet.

Santander closed its Hempstead Valley branch in 2021 and it was then put up to rent for £45,000 a year.

With more than 130 stores across the UK, German Doner Kebab specialises in gourmet kebabs and doner wraps using premium imported meats from Germany and locally sourced vegetables.

The chain’s nearest branches are in Maidstone, Gravesend and Tonbridge Wells.

German Doner Kebab has been approached for comment.
