Part of Gillingham’s former NatWest bank could become a co-living scheme.

A planning application has been submitted to convert the disused bank into 17 one-bedroom flats with communal living areas.

The ground floor commercial space will be retained, although reduced in size to make way for the flats.

NatWest closed the branch in June last year due to a drop in footfall, claiming that counter transactions had decreased by 41% between 2017 and 2019.

Medway Council is due to consider the planning application by Tuesday, 24 October.
