Wagamama has opened its first branch in Medway.

The restaurant launched today (13 May) at Chatham Maritime, opposite Dockside Outlet Centre.

It serves the chain’s popular pan-Asian cuisine, including chicken katsu and ramen, as well as a new summer menu.

The 3,229 sq ft restaurant caters for 172 covers, including 48 outdoor spaces.

It is open 11am to 10pm Monday to Thursday and Sunday, as well as 11am to 11pm on Friday and Saturday.

A total of 60 jobs have been created for the local area.

The unit was previously occupied by Villagio, before Wagamama agreed a 15-year lease with landlord Schroders Capital UK Real Estate Fund.

Italian restaurant chain Zizzi will also open next to Wagamama on Monday, 27 May.

Wagamama, which launched in 1992, has more than 170 branches in the UK and is opening ten new eateries this year.
