Revised flat plans for Hen and Chicks pub on Luton High Street, Chatham

Plans to turn Chatham’s Hen and Chicks pub into flats have been resubmitted.
The pub would be restored and extended to become 10 one-bed flats.
A previous planning application, submitted last March and later withdrawn, asked permission for six flats.

The latest plans include a communal garden and 12 cycle parking spaces, although no car parking is proposed.
Hen and Chicks was originally built in 1702 as a farmhouse and turned into a pub in 1746.
It became a local landmark that was popular with residents until it permanently closed in 2019.
The pub was then put on the market and sold for £252,000 three years later in February 2022.

A decision on the planning application is due by 15 August.
Residents can submit a representation in favour or against the plans online.
View the plans on Medway Council’s Planning Portal here or by searching MC/24/0514.
