A low cost fitness chain launches its newest 24/7 gym in Medway.

The Gym Group has opened a fitness facility at Gillingham Retail Park, marking the company’s first location in the town.

The gym features dozens of cardio machines and weights, a functional exercise area and a studio space.

The gym officially opened its doors last Monday (30 December) at a launch event attended by MP for Gillingham and Rainham, Naushabah Khan.

Gym goers in the area can choose from a range of flexible and no contract monthly membership plans, which includes 24-hour access and unlimited classes.

There is also free car parking, nearby bus links and secure cycle storage at the fitness facility.

Matthew Smith, general manager at the Gillingham branch, said: “We’re excited to officially open our doors to new members in Gillingham, bringing our brilliant, affordable and flexible fitness offer to the local community.

“Our expert team are on hand to offer guidance and support for members on their fitness journey, whatever their goals might be.”

Naushabah Khan, MP for Gillingham and Rainham, added: “It was brilliant to celebrate the launch of The Gym Group Gillingham today [30 December].

“Exercise plays an important role in preventative health and mental wellbeing and, because of this, access to local gyms is incredibly important within our local communities.”

Founded in 2008, The Gym Group operates over 240 sites across the UK, with a further 50 openings planned for the next three years.

It launched its first branch in Medway at Strood Retail Park in 2017.
