NatWest bank has shut its branch in Strood.

The High Street bank closed its doors for the final time on Wednesday (6 March).

NatWest blamed the closure on the falling number of customers using a counter service amid a shift to online and mobile banking.

The nearest alternative branch is in Chatham and customers can also visit Strood’s Post Office at 13-17 North Street for most everyday banking services.

NatWest’s closure is set to be followed by the nearby Lloyds bank, which is shutting on 4 April, leaving Strood with just one bank – Nationwide.

Strood has already lost its Halifax, Barclays and HSBC banks, having closed in 2019, 2021 and 2022 respectively.
