NatWest has announced the closure of its branch in Rainham.

The High Street bank will shut on Wednesday, 24 July.

NatWest blamed the closure on fewer customers using a counter service due to the shift to online and mobile banking.

It claims that counter transactions at the branch had dropped by 52% between January 2019 and January 2023 – with just two customers using the branch weekly in 2023.

The nearest alternative branch is in Chatham and customers can also visit Rainham Post Office for most everyday banking services.

The latest announcement follows the closure of NatWest on Strood High Street earlier this month.
