Ageing traffic lights across Medway are set for an upgrade following a cash boost.

Medway Council has been awarded £561,579 from the government’s Traffic Signal Obsolescence Grant (TSOG), which provides funds to replace unreliable and obsolete equipment to improve reliability.

The council will use the money to repair faults and fine-tune signals on key routes to better reflect traffic conditions.

Extra remote monitoring and repairs to variable message signs, which give passing motorists real-time information about roadworks and incidents, will also be funded.

The upgrades will be delivered over the next two years.
