Halifax to shut bank in Chatham High Street for two-month refurbishment

Chatham’s Halifax bank is set to undergo a major makeover.
The branch on the corner of the High Street and Military Road will be shut for two months while the work is completed.
It will close on 31 December and reopen on 6 March 2025.

In the meantime, the nearest Halifax banks are in Gillingham High Street and Windmill Street, Gravesend.
The Gillingham branch will close permanently shortly afterwards on 26 March.
A Halifax spokesperson said: “We’re investing in our Chatham branch and, once the refurbishment is complete in early March, customers will have access to a ‘Touchdown Table’ for informal chats, alongside private meeting spaces, ATMs and other banking services.”
