Game has announced the closure of its long-standing Chatham store.

The video game retailer will shut its branch in the Pentagon Centre this September.

A closing-down sale is currently underway in the store, offering 20% off soft toys, video games, accessories and equipment.

Frasers Group, which owns several retail brands such as Sports Direct and Flannels, took over Game for £52 million in 2019.

Since its acquisition, most standalone Game outlets have closed and reopened as concessions inside Sports Direct.

The Chatham branch narrowly avoided closure in 2020 when 40 locations across the UK were axed.

Once closed the nearest alternative store will be in Fremlin Walk, Maidstone.

Game and Frasers Group have been approached for comment.
