Another major chain store has permanently closed in Chatham’s Pentagon Centre.

Game has shut in the shopping centre today (9 January) after a long-running closing-down sale.

The store was set to close in September last year, but bosses delayed it by three months.

Customers will now have to travel to Maidstone for their nearest store.

The retailer is best known for selling gaming consoles and games, as well as toys and board games.

In 2019, it was acquired by the Frasers Group, which also owns other major brands such as Sports Direct and House of Fraser.

Many of Game’s traditional brick-and-mortar stores were transferred into concessions within those larger retail spaces owned by the group.

The Chatham store had already avoided closure once in 2020 when 40 UK branches were axed.
