First Zizzi restaurant opening in Medway is confirmed
Medway’s first Zizzi restaurant is now official after months of speculation.
The Italian restaurant chain will be opening at Chatham Dockside, taking up an empty unit next to KFC and opposite the Dockside Outlet Centre.
A premises license application was recently submitted by Zizzi, confirming the restaurant opening that has been earmarked since June.
The application seeks permission for the sale of alcohol, indoor recorded music and late-night opening hours until 00:30 from Monday to Sunday.
However, work is yet to begin on the restaurant and an opening date remains unknown.
The empty unit was previously occupied by The Real China restaurant before it was merged with the former Villagio unit next door to create an MFA bowling alley, but those plans never materialised.
Currently, the closest Zizzi restaurant is in Maidstone.
The chain has more than 130 branches across the UK and Ireland since launching in 1999.
Zizzi and landlord Schroders Capital UK Real Estate Fund have been approached for comment.
