Closing date confirmed for Barclays in Chatham High Street as branch to relocate

Medway’s only Barclays branch is set to move location with an exact date now confirmed.

Barclays has announced its branch in Chatham High Street will shut at 12pm on Friday, 12 September.

It will then reopen in Unit 5 at Dockside Outlet Centre, formerly occupied by Clarks, on Monday, 22 September.

The relocation comes after the lease on the current High Street branch had expired, Future Medway understands.

The new Chatham Dockside branch will be open 9.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays it will operate on a self-service basis only from 9.30am to 1pm.

Approved plans could see the Barclays building become new homes and shops

London-based investment firm Virya Capital bought the current branch for £1.25 million in September 2023.

There are already approved plans to redevelop the building into 15 flats and four shops, including a rooftop extension.
