Building work on a later living housing scheme in Rochester is progressing.

Housing association mhs homes is redeveloping the site of St Clements House, on the corner of Corporation Street and Blue Boar Lane, into 44 flats.

The new homes will be provided for affordable rent, specifically for residents aged 60 and above.

Work started in January and is expected to reach completion in June 2025.

Once completed the new part five, part six-storey building will provide independent living for older residents in one-bedroom flats.

Communal spaces and outdoor amenity areas such as a terrace, activity lawn and sensory garden will also be created to help residents socialise.

The development has been designed by BPTW Architects and is being delivered by contractor Jerram Falkus.

Previously the site was occupied by St Clements House, a three-storey sheltered housing scheme with 21 flats that had become dilapidated.

Planning permission to demolish and redevelop the site was granted by Medway Council in 2021.
