A 27-home development for social rent has been completed in Rainham.

The new three-bedroom houses at Kershaw Grove, off Station Road, were built by housing association Moat.

Medway Council contributed almost £800,000 towards the development to help provide affordable housing for local families.

Built by Bromley-based developer McCullochs, Kershaw Grove is the second phase of a wider development, with the first phase of 34 homes, called Beaulieu Park, completed in 2021.

Steve Nunn, executive director for development at Moat, said: “Moat is focused on working in partnership to build attractive, safe and sustainable homes in communities where they are most needed.

“We are delighted to have worked with McCullochs and Medway Council to deliver homes built to a very high standard which, as Social Rented homes, will be truly affordable for our future customers in Rainham.”

Cllr Naushabah Khan, Medway Council’s portfolio holder for housing and property, said: “I am really pleased that we have been able to deliver these new, affordable homes for Medway residents in partnership with Moat.

“We are committed to providing genuinely affordable housing in Medway for our residents. It is fantastic that people will shortly be moving in, and I would like to wish the new residents the very best with their new home.”

The planning application for the new homes was approved in 2021.
